Substance use disorder is a chronic and progressive disease that, left untreated, may lead to disability and death. Abstinence from drugs and alcohol is only the beginning of rehabilitation. Recovery calls for a dynamic change in behavior, attitudes, and environment. Completing an in-patient treatment program is helpful, but what happens next? Transitional sober housing has been proven to be essential in maintaining lasting sobriety. Access studies and articles in support of this claim:

Lighthouse Residences supports transformative experiences by providing safe, affordable, and dignified housing for adults recovering from substance use disorder. Our goal is to assist guests in achieving and sustaining long-term recovery. The Lighthouse Residences flagship Men's house will open in Summer 2022 and will be the only sober living facility on Chicago’s North Shore. We plan to expand into multiple residences in order to meet the demand of these underserved communities.
While many 30-day treatment programs are covered by insurance and most treatment centers accept these plans, they usually do not cover 100% of the cost, leaving the individual with tens of thousands of dollars in bills. Sober living is not covered currently by insurance providers. These financial constraints often prohibit individuals from committing to the post-treatment structured support that is recommended for them to recover successfully.
This is why Lighthouse Residences was established as a 501(c)(3) non profit organization committed to providing fair access to our housing through a scholarship fund, providing partial scholarships based on the financial need of each guest. With a donation of $4,000 per month, guests stay in private bedrooms, have access to a dedicated house manager and recovery support, among other benefits. Most importantly, recovering individuals will reside in the community where they will return to once they leave our facilities. This allows them to build a strong recovery foundation and support network before they move out. As alumni, they become part of the support network for newer guests. These factors have been proven to greatly enhance chances for successful re-entry and maintaining long-term recovery.
